From air comes fire – Agni, which has air and space qualities apart from its own appearance quality.
From space comes air – Vayu, which has the qualities of sound and touch.
Ether(space) is all-pervasive and the subtlest it has the quality sound.
The first manifestation is space – Akasa.
Brahman at this stage is nirguna, nirakara – without attributes and without a structure. Initially, there is Brahman, Brahman omnipresent. It illustrates how the five significant elements have emerged in consecutive order from the Supreme, Brahman. The mantra gives a brief description of the evolution of the universe from subtle to gross. The body of human constituted of the essence of food is the physical scabbard of the Self.” (Taittiriya Upanishad 2:1:1b) “Out of Brahman, who is the Self, come space out of the space, air out of the air, fire out of the fire, water out of the water, planets out of the planets, vegetation out of vegetation, food out of food, the body of the human.

In the same way, the soul or Self is closest to the Brahman. As in atomic structure, the nucleus is surrounded by the number of electrons in shells orbit, and the innermost is strongly bonded in comparison of outermost shell electrons. The Self is realized by uncovering the five sheaths and achieve the ultimate bliss. The human identity comprises of five layers which are referred to in Upanishads as Panchakosam. While the Brahman is the real bliss (Anandmaya Kosa), who lives inside the lotus of the heart and one who knows the Brahman enjoys all his blessings. We are unaware of real happiness and always trying to find it outside in materials. This theory is known as Pancha Kosa or five sheaths. The individual as a substance consisting of five different sheaths of matter, each covering the other with varying grossness levels, the outer layer is the grossest. BRAHMANANDA VALLI the section of taittiriya Upanishad benefits human beings by uncovering the outer sheaths and recognizing their own personality, Self or Brahman.
